| My Personal Alarm Clock At around 4am I was suddenly awaken by somebody grabbing my leg. I freaked out. I jumped and who did i see? KC's hand!! Apparently, he had a nightmare where monster was about to fall off the bed and he was trying to catch her. He was very apologetic at the time. But do you wanna know what he said later? He said why are your legs so close to the middle of the bed? I was like "say what?". As smart as he is, he said 'nevermind'. I can see it both ways. #1) what a superhero....saving little monster from falling to the ground. uhhhhhh....my hero OR #2) Is my leg that big? As big as monster's? I wasn't mad so dinner was served that evening. | | |
| Two for the price of one
A few days ago I went to Babies R' Us and bought some stuff for 'monster'. As i was loading the stuff in my soccerMomMobile I noticed a box of rice cereal hidden in the cart. I was a little tired that morning...who am i kidding? I'm tired every morning!! Needless to say i didn't want to walk back to explain, they make enough money anyway, it's a 'buy 2 for the price of 1 day today'. The next day i went to Whole Foods and I did it again!!! I found a bottle of apple juice in monster's carseat. Okay, so i have this really bad habit of leaving things in her car seat while shopping...who doesn't? I told kc about how this was the third incident this week (did i mention i went shopping at an asian grocery store and forgot to pay for my daikon and tofu?) and he told me i need to go back, tell them what happened and pay for what i didn't pay for. So i went back to Babies R' Us and Whole Foods and i swear the clerks thought i was smoking something. they were VERY shocked. So what's the lesson here? ....if you're gonna steal, don't tell your husband. Just kidding on the last note but you guys know what the lesson is....(don't you?)
| Yellow ducks...where are they?
I was reading a book on colors to monster when i came across the color "yellow" page. A few of the examples in the book include bananas, a little chick and a girl in a yellow top holding a rubber duck. It didn't occur to me until i said to monster "look at the yellow duckie". I've never seen a bright yellow duck. Have you? Where can i find one?
| Long day at work
It has probably been more than 6 months since I attended a code. I was 12 hours (out of 17) into my work when i heard "rapid response in ## bed one" which of course turned into a code. I was not able to attend the response for at least 5 minutes but I had a gut feeling which patient it was. When i went to check the census, i was correct. I decided to go upstairs to check things out and to see if the team needed me. As i arrived, to my surprise i saw 2 nurses standing in front of an opened crash box looking distressed. Looking over my left shoulder it was quite obvious to my why the box was opened. It was probably the most unsettling experience i have encountered. The reason i say this is because the team was unable to locate a pulse and after more than 20 minutes of CPR and drugs, they were going to "call it". The team did not quit and 1 minute later you here a voice "i think i got a pulse". Isn't that scary? I was standing there thinking, how a simple statement can end all attempts to keep a person alive. I am very glad that the team did not give up and that they did anything they could to keep this person alive. I left the room thinking how important diet, exercise, family, friends and above all, God is in our lives.
Monster is sick
How my heart aches to see monster sitting on my lap with this very sad look on her face. The tiny red nose, thin mucus dribbling down from her mini-me nostrils, the horrible sounding cough, bags under her eyes and the sad look she gives. I feel so bad for her. Please pray that God will quickly help her recover from this and to keep her safe and healthy and free from those nasty germies.
